The database Thesaurus Inscriptionum Raeticarum represents a comprehensive collection of all inscription-bearing objects with relevance for studies on Raetic inscriptions as well as characters.
The included objects are indicated with the siglum related to the inscription and the name resp. type of object. The various sigla groups correspond to the system established by Schumacher (cp. Schumacher 1992: 123 as well as Schumacher 2004: 123 and 320).
Object Typology
The typology used in Thesaurus Inscriptionum Raeticarum is defined in the below indicated overview table.
The typology is related to the determinable archaeological type of the relative objects insofar as an attribution is possible. The category classification however indicates the general type of object. In this context it must be noted the distinction between bowl (or vessel) as terms related to the classification and Sanzeno-Schale as detailed archaeological type.
For the most part the archaeological types were indicated with the German terms, on one side in the absence of acceptable English terms related to the archaeological, cultural and geographical context, on the other side due to the meaning and importance of several terms (almost) like termini technici. If an English archaeological type term is indicated, in addition it is noted the German term in parentheses and cursive characters. The corresponding Italian type names follow the indications given by Marzatico (cp. Marzatico 1992: 215–220; Marzatico 2001b: 510 et seq., fig. 2).
The definitions as well as the datings are in accord with the remarks mentioned in the literature (cp. e.g. Gleirscher 1985b; Gleirscher 1987; Marzatico 1992: 215–220; Marzatico 2001b: 510 et seq., fig. 2; Gamper 2006: 13–86, with various fig.). An attribution of the relative objects indicated in the Thesaurus Inscriptionum Raeticarum take place into the category "Occurrences".
