The inscription was first edited in '''{{bib|Franz 1958b}}''', where is also first mentioned the object itself. The inscription, about 8.5 cm long, is on the exterior face of the sieve funnel, under the rim. Due to the good condition of the inscription there is no doubt about the reading like '''{{bib|Franz 1958b}}''' was given it as first. Only Mayr ({{bib|Mayr 1960f}}:389) and in his succession Tibiletti Bruno ({{bib|Tibiletti Bruno 1978}}: 221) had proposed an other reading (pianusapan). Mayr had supposed that the writer has forgotten the vertical hasta of the last [[index::N]] by accident.<br>In view of the inscription the doubt has come up about the authenticity. Schumacher supposes that the sieve is originally from the Roman period, but the inscription come from a later time as imitation in the style of [[index::SZ-16]] and the here written inscription '''laθurus ipianus apanin''' ({{bib|Schumacher 2004}}: 336).<br>Further references: Pictures in {{bib|Mayr 1960f}}: 389 (drawing of the inscription), {{bib|IR}}: 286 (drawing of the inscription) and {{bib|LIR}}: 150-151 (photo of the object and drawing of the inscription).

The inscription, about 8.5 cm long, is located right under the rim and in good condition. While {{bib|Franz 1958b|Franz}} read {{w||tianusatau}} in spite of the oddly misaligned {{c||U2}}, {{bib|Mayr 1960f}}: 389 proposed {{w||tianusatan}} with the hasta of {{c||N}} missing due to a mistake by the writer, citing as a parallel the inscription [[index::SZ-16]] {{w||laθurusi}} {{w||tianusa}} {{w||taniun|tanin}}. {{bib|Schumacher 2004|Schumacher}}'s idea that NO-2 might be a forgery based on [[index::SZ-16]] (p. 336) relied on his incorrect segmentation of that inscription, and can now be dismissed. The inscription does, however, appear to be incomplete for unknown reasons. The fragmentary word might have been {{w||taniun|tanin}} as in [[index::SZ-16]] or {{w||taniun}}.

The inscription, about 8.5 cm long, is located right under the rim and in good condition. While Franz read tianusatau in spite of the oddly misaligned U2 s, Mayr 1960f: 389 proposed tianusatan with the hasta of N s missing due to a mistake by the writer, citing as a parallel the inscription SZ-16 laθurusi tianusa tanin. Schumacher's idea that NO-2 might be a forgery based on SZ-16 (p. 336) relied on his incorrect segmentation of that inscription, and can now be dismissed. The inscription does, however, appear to be incomplete for unknown reasons. The fragmentary word might have been tanin as in SZ-16 or taniun.
