Commentary

First published in Mayr 1951: 32 (no. VIII). Autopsied by TIR in October 2014.

Images in Roberti 1950: Tav. III,VIII (drawing) = Mayr 1951: 31 (VIII), Pellegrini 1951: no. 8 (photo) and 313 (8) (drawing), LIR (photo and drawing = IR).

Inscribed on the front of the bronze, along the horse's back, starting at the backside; length 3.8 cm. The characters are unambiguous. kaθiave is best interpreted as an individual name, probably that of the donor.

Further references: Pellegrini 1951: 312 (no. 8) and 324, Mayr 1952: 176 (no. 8), Vetter 1954: 71 (no. 8), Tibiletti Bruno 1978: 222.
