Commentary
First published in Schumacher 1994b: 296f.
Image in Schumacher 1994b: Abb. 1 (drawing = Schumacher 2004: Taf. 12,4 = LIR = MLR).
Length 4.5 cm. Inscribed with care; the lines are scratched in two parts, each from the outer end inward. The reading of the letters is unambiguous. A slightly bigger gap separates from ; appear a little broader and more spaced out than the other letters. While this may be coincidence, a discrete sequence χaris could be analysed as a Raetic individual name χari in the genitive. Cp. VN-16 with a similar sequence sans , VN-17 with a final separated from the preceding sequence by a punctuation mark, and VN-10 / VN-11 with a group at the end of the inscription, also separated. Cp. also SZ-2.2 with possible χari.
