Commentary

First published in IR. Autopsied by TIR in October 2014.

Images in Nothdurfter 1979: Abb. 23 (no. 180) (drawing), IR (drawing) = LIR.

Autopsy could only be conducted through the glass of the display case, with the side of the axe with SZ-39.2 on it facing backward. Length approx. 3.5 cm (measurements apud Mancini). Mancini read ali with inverted Alpha, but comparison with the inscription on the other side of the object suggests that the first character is U2 s with a smaller chevron inscribed into it, similar to the common symbol symbol4 s. The only difference between the two inscriptions on the object is the asterisk on SZ-39.1.
