Two characters – normalised reading ''la'' – recurring on Sanzeno bowls ({{#ask: [[Category:Inscription]][[word::{{PAGENAME}}]][[object.material::pottery]]|format=count}}x), iron scythe rings ({{#ask: [[Category:Inscription]][[word::{{PAGENAME}}]][[object.type object::scythe ring]]|format=count}}x) and maybe iron axe heads ({{#ask: [[Category:Inscription]][[word::{{PAGENAME}}]][[object.type object::axe]]|format=count}}x), mostly from [[index::Sanzeno]] ({{#ask: [[Category:Inscription]][[word::{{PAGENAME}}]][[object.site::Sanzeno]]|format=count}}x). {{c||L}} alternates with {{c||L2}}, hence the reading as {{p||l}} despite the fact that {{c||P2}} in Sanzeno context is normally Pi.

On scythe rings ([[index::SZ-44.2]], [[index::SZ-45.2]], [[index::SZ-46.2]]), the characters appear in tolerably uniform shape, with {{c||L}} ({{p||l}} or {{p||p}}) and Sanzenoid {{c||A|d}} (sometimes with the hasta in writing direction shortened). They are always accompanied by the inscription {{w||uθiiθi}}.

On Sanzeno bowls, the situation is more complicated. While it is likely that the inscriptions belong together, it is hard to determine how the characters should be read. Both [[index::SZ-57.1]] and [[index::SZ-60.2]], if read ''la'', are upside-down; if read upright, the characters turn into dextroverse {{c||L|d}}{{c||Χ3|d}} {{w||lχ}} / {{w||pχ}} (or even sinistroverse {{w||χp}}). In the case of [[index::SZ-60.2]], the central hasta of the second letter is prolonged, making it look more like {{c||Χ|d}} in any case. Cp. [[index::SZ-41]]. [[index::SZ-57.2]], with regular {{c||A|d}}, should be expected to be a repetition of [[index::SZ-57.2]] (apparently incised before firing?), but is made doubtful by an additional small bar added to {{c||A|d}}. A reading of the first character as {{c||U}} or {{c||U2}} {{p||u}}, at least, is unlikely, as it is in all instances clearly asymmetrical. [[index::WE-6]], the only attestation not from [[index::Sanzeno]], resembles the scythe ring inscriptions.

The affiliation of the axe head inscriptions ([[index::SZ-62]], [[index::SZ-76.2]], [[index::SZ-76.2]]), mostly containing some variant of the group, but always accompanied by varying additional strokes, is doubtful.
