Commentary

First published in Kirchmayr & Schumacher 2019: 265. Examined by Stefan Schumacher in September 2018.

Images in Kirchmayr & Schumacher 2019: 262, Abb. 5 (photo and drawing).

Length of the remains 2.2 cm. The letters were embossed sinistroverse on the back of the miniature shield, but are not visible on the front, probably due to a hard work surface (p. 258). All three are complete and well legible.

Theta appears in its small form, as common in North Tyrol (cf. IT-7 and IT-8, the latter also from the Pillerhöhe); the shape of alpha A7 s also occurs with frequency in the north.

Due to the shortness of the remaining sequence, no interpretation can be offered.
