Commentary

First published in Mayr 1957: 230 f. Autopsied by TIR in October 2014.

Images in Mayr 1957: Abb. 1 (photo), IR (photo tv. XXXVb and drawing) = LIR.

Length 3 cm, starting from the broad end of the piece of antler. The letters are tidy and well legible. The interpretation of the St. Andrew's cross as being a seperate entity from the others characters is based on the identification of φausu with the name Bauso (see word page). Mayr read Θ s as an abbreviation for the verbal form þinake, Schumacher 1998: 94 prefers to interpret it as a delimiter.

Further references: Mayr 1962: 222, Tibiletti Bruno 1978: 221.
