General information

In the Museo Nazionale Atestino are preserved objects which on the one hand are property of the Museo Nazionale Atestino, on the other hand the objects belong to the Soprintendenza Archeologia del Veneto. Therefore the variation concerning the indication of the inventory numbers must also be noted. The indication "MNA + number" refers to the property of the Museo Nazionale Atestino. A potential adding of "I.G." (= Indice Generale) is possibile at this. The specification only consisting of the "number" implies the affiliation to the Soprintendenza Archeologia del Veneto. Concerning this indication a supplemental "SAV" is possibile.

Further objects hosted in the Museo Nazionale Atestino

Above (cp. Objects hosted) are indicated all objects preserved in the Museo Nazionale Atestino with an inscription and/or characters listed with a siglum in the Thesaurus Inscriptionum Raeticarum.
In addition there are several objects with characters and/or incisions which are indicated in the references as inscription and/or signs with an alphabetical character. After the autopsy of the regarding objects and because of the doubtful status concerning the characters they were excluded from the main sigla system. But due to the fact that in the references they were considered to be inscribed they are listed with the siglum EX(cluded) in the Thesaurus Inscriptionum Raeticarum.
Related to the Museo Nazionale Atestino the following objects belong to this group:
EX-100: lead ingot, Inv. No. MNA 57550.
For further information concerning the EX-siglum system as well as detailed indications related to the above-mentioned objects cp. here.

Further objects from Magrè

In addition the Museo Nazionale Atestino keeps also the further findings coming from Magrè which trace back to the accidental findings made by the carpenter Giovanni Piccoli from Schio the 10th november 1912 as well as to the discoveries made during the official excavation effected in consequence of the first findings by chance. The excavation was directed by Giuseppe Pellegrini and Alfonso Alfonsi. In alignment with Pellegrini 1918 the following objects are preserved in the Museo Nazionale Atestino:
Pellegrini 1918: 172, fig. 3: greenstone axe, Inv. No. MNA 1151; Pellegrini 1918: 172–173, fig. 4: fragmentary and broken bronze handle, Inv. No. MNA 57547; Pellegrini 1918: 173, fig. 5: circular bronze object (by Pellegrini considered as handle of a casket), Inv. No. MNA 57548; Pellegrini 1918: 174, fig. 7: silex arrowhead, Inv. No. MNA 1152.
All these objects are stored in repository.

Further objects from Bostel

Excavation 1912

The material discovered in the Raetic settlement of Bostel in 1912 was preserved in the Museo di Asiago (cp. also PID: 32). Before the destruction of the museum during the war years 1915–1918 these findings were transported and securely stored in the Museo Nazionale Atestino (cp. Leonardi & Ruta Serafini 1981: 11). Although the majority of these findings is not traceable anymore and must be considered lost, several objects are still kept in the Museo Nazionale Atestino. From the large group of inscribed ceramic fragments with siglum "AS" (siglum in accord to Schumacher 2004; cp. also this page) remained only the potsherd with siglum AS-3. Furthermore there are other findings, however non-inscribed, from the excavation 1912 in the Museo Nazionale Atestino. In alignment with Pellegrini 1915 these are the following objects: Pellegrini 1915: pl. II.2 = Inv. No. 213374; Pellegrini 1915: pl. II.5 = Inv. No. 213376; Pellegrini 1915: pl. II.7 = Inv. No. 213346; Pellegrini 1915: pl. II.21 = Inv. No. 213378. In addition there are two other ceramic fragments with Inv. No. 213379 and Inv. No. 213380. All these objects are stored in repository.

Excavation 1969

In 1969 was effected a new campaign of excavation in Bostel. The findings of this excavation are documented by Leonardi and Ruta Serafini (cp. Leonardi & Ruta Serafini 1981). Only a small part of these findings are still traceable in the Museo Nazionale Atestino, however all non-inscribed (fragmentary) pottery: Inv. No. 31801; Inv. No. MNA 31804; Inv. No. 31808; Inv. No. 31810; Inv. No. 31811. All these objects are stored in repository.
