Commentary

First published in PID. Autopsied by TIR in November 2013.

Pictures in PID (drawing) and LIR (drawing, sub SA-55).

Heavily corroded, but the symbol "a caporale" can be made out reasonably well. Read (dextroverse, with both signs askew) by Whatmough. Mancini included the inscription (and object) twice, SA-80 being inherited from PID, while SA-55 was seen by him but not identified with the inscription on Whatmough's "chisel". Independently of Whatmough, Mancini read θa (dextroverse), disregarding traces of corrosion to the right of more evident A d (~ symbol4 s), but including fractures to the left to represent Θ s.
