The small fragment is one of over 200 such pieces found on the Pillerhöhe which still await summary investigation and publication. The present fragment is the only (known) inscribed specimen. Its identification as a bit of a miniature shield is ascertained by the presence of a trace of one of the embossed rings which circle the buckle on such shields.
