Commentary

First published in Mayr 1950: 407 f. (no. IV). Autopsied by TIR in October 2014.

Images in Mayr 1950: 407 (drawing), Pellegrini 1951: no. 4b (photo) and 307 (4b) (drawing).

On the back of the bronze, just above the stylized feet, covering the entire breadth of the object. Most probably a factory mark; possibly a number (pricemark?). Cp. the marks on many other bronzes from Sanzeno, esp. the identical SZ-5.2 on a very similar object.

Further references: Pellegrini 1951: 310 (no. 4b), Mayr 1952: 175 f. (no. 4b), Vetter 1954: 71 (no. 4b), Mayr 1962: 222.
