Commentary

Not previously published. Autopsied by TIR in November 2014.

Length of the remains about 3 cm. The reading is impeded by surface damage and often doubtful white inlay. The rightmost character can be read , the lines following it (as traced with the paint) cannot be arranged into letters. On the very left, an oblique hasta with three bars (the lowest one possibly slighter than the others and not traced); the uppermost bar may reach the bottom of the line as the other two do. Possibly not script – cp. the marks on those fragments of helmets from the find which have not been included on Non-script notational systems.
