Word
Language: Raetic, Celtic
Word type: proper noun

Gender: masculine

Phonemic analysis: tarani
Meaning: 'Taranis' (theonym)

Attestation: FI-1 (ṣ a[/kakaka[(?)/θarani[?/saφ̣ạṇa/θ̣]arani[?) (1)

Commentary

Documented twice on one object, where both object and inscription can be argued to have ritual character (votive, possibly invocation). We are probably concerned with a testimony of the Celtic theonym Taranis, but see FI-1: Final -s is lacking; Marchesini 2012 argues that the name was adapted to Raetic onomastics (see The Raetic language).
