Commentary

First published in Schumacher 1994: 309 f.

Picture in Schumacher 1994: Ab. 1 (drawing = Schumacher 2004: Taf. 12,1 = LIR).

A group of slight scratches right next to the hole drilled into the left end of the bone, max. height 1.9 cm. The most suggestive part is a long line made up of about five short scratches, followed by a zig-zag, suggesting M s. There is another "bar" extending from the bottom of the longer line in the other direction; to the right, a profusion of tiny scratches defies an interpretable arrangement. Most probably non-script; possibly pseudo-script. See here for a discussion of possible interpretations of inscriptions with doubtful status.
