Commentary

Antler point from the Putzer Gschleier.
Full-round, on the broader, slivered side sawed through for 2 cm.
On the concaved side characters.
There are no detailed informations about the find circumstances. It is only known that the object was rediscovered in 1956, in case of the revision of the museum inventory. Franz does not suggest that the antler point is one of the findings made during the excavation of von Wieser in 1911 (cp. for this BZ-16 chisel) because of the characters the antler point is bearing. Franz perceives that von Wieser would not ignore the characters. According to a notice of Whatmough that an inscription bearing object was found in Eppan / Appiano in 1931, this object seems more probable to him (cp. Franz 1957: 106, particularly fn. 6).
