Commentary

Bronze in the shape of a dolphin.
According to Mayr the bronze represents an import article from the south. The inscription however was placed in Sanzeno. Cp. Mayr 1959c: 397.
Almost the entire group of bronzes from Sanzeno was discovered between 1947 and 1949. The bronzes were found by chance in a sand pit (cp. Pellegrini 1951: 304; Vetter 1954: 66-67).
Further references more related to inscription mainly for the fact that the inscription was only visible after a cleaning of the bronze: Mayr 1951: 134 (No. XIII) (note that there is no inscription on the object); Pellegrini 1951: 315, fig. 13 (remark of different characters however no reading is given); Mayr 1952: 176 (after cleaning a barely legible inscription); Vetter 1954: 72 (indication of remains of an inscription, but not legible), Mayr 1959c: 397 with fig. (an attempt of reading and interpretation of the entire inscription).
