Commentary
Bone (ossicle) of an animal, not further classified.
Broken at one end.
Remains of an inscription.
The archaeological finds VR-6 antler, VR-7 bone and VR-8 bone were picked up during an archaeological survey on the Colle del Castello di Montorio, near to Verona, in 1998 (cp. Marinetti 2004: 409; moreover: MLR: 257).
The discoveries which all can be put into a context of residential structure, indicate an "ampio arco cronologico (dal V secolo all’età imperiale)"; a Raetic presence however can be determined for the 4th and 3rd centuries BC. For more details see Marinetti 2004: 409 or MLR: 257.
In the recently released study about the Raetic inscriptions by Marchesini the bone is listed with "MLR 292". According to the indications in MLR the bone is kept in the Soprintendenza per i Beni Archeologici del Veneto – Nucleo Operativo di Verona, an autopsy was effected (cp. MLR: 258 [MLR 292]).
So far not autopsied by the Thesaurus Inscriptionum Raeticarum. The indications follow the information given in literature (cp. below the bibliography).
