Almost the entire group of bronze statuettes from Sanzeno was discovered between 1947 and 1949. The bronzes were found by chance in a sand pit (cp. Pellegrini 1951: 304; Vetter 1954: 66-67). In consequence of these accidental findings a governmental excavation was initiated by Prof. Brusin. Since 1951 the excavation was executed under the direction of G.B. Frescura. Cp. Vetter 1954: 72. The bronze statuette SZ-15 statuette was found in May 1951 during this campaign (cp. Pellegrini 1951: 316; Mayr 1952: 176–177).
