Commentary
Ceramic fragment. The potsherd presents probably the foot of a ceramic vessel resp. bowl with omphalos.
Fine clay, from light brown to reddish in colour. Moderate tempered of fine grained sand and slight argentine mica; burnished.
No decoration visible.
Inside, on the left as well as on the right of the omphalos two characters.
The find date, 1900, given by Mancini is uncertain (cp. LIR: 113; also Mancini indicates the find date as arguable). Further find circumstances like exact find place are unknown.
An exact dating of the fragment it is not possible so far. However the appearance of characters points to a dating to the La Tène period.
Probably first published in IR: 278, No. 54.
Autopsied by the Thesaurus Inscriptionum Raeticarum in November 2013.
