Commentary
Bronze statuette of a horse.
Find spot Sanzeno, but find circumstances unknown. Length 7.4 cm, preserved height 5 cm.
Brown-green patina all-over, in which the patina on the left side was removed forcibly.
Full plastic worked, in this connection the head is formed in a remarkable smaller dimension. The eyes are engraved and highly stylized. Forelock, mane and the curled tail as well as the genitals are clearly formed. The lower section of the feet are missing. In the head area a harness bridle.
On the left leading flank as far as the centre of the body an inscription.
The kind of full plastic work with indication of details dates the statuette to the late 5th century BC. The working of the eyes could suggest a celtic influence (Walde-Psenner 1976: 213).
