Commentary

Gouge with nozzle.
In cross section octogonal handle. Enlargement to the slightly curved blade. Highly damaged due to corrosion. Dimensions in according to Nothdurfter: length 22.8cm, blade width 4.3 cm, nozzle diameter 3 cm.
Along probably non-script characters.
No further indications related to the find circumstances are known. The object presents one of the old findings from Sanzeno which were found by the local inhabitants at the end of the 19th century in Sanzeno. The major part of these findings were acquired by the Tyrolean State Museum in the course of the turn of the century, hence the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century.
Mancini indicates the object twice: The No. SA-55 as well as the No. SA-80 are related to the present gouge (cp. for No. SA-55: LIR: 114 with transcription; for No. SA-80: LIR: 132).
However, compared to the description in PID, the attribution is uncertain and arguable.
Autopsied by the Thesaurus Inscriptionum Raeticarum in November 2013.
