Usually assumed to run dextroverse (from the end of the hilt towards the blade). Franz read Latin LT or LP VALENTINUS, Mancini 2010 tentatively reads the middle section as valen. Hardly readable due to corrosion, possibly pseudo-script. Chased with a punktförmige Punze.
