Commentary

First published in Pellegrini 1951: 310 f. (no. 5b). Autopsied by TIR in October 2014.

Images in Pellegrini 1951: no. 5b (photo) and 307 (5b) (drawing), IR (drawing).

On the back of the bronze, just above the stylized feet, covering the entire breadth of the object. Most probably a factory mark; possibly a number (pricemark?). Cp. the marks on many other bronzes from Sanzeno, esp. the identical SZ-4.2 on a very similar object.

Further references: Mayr 1952: 176 (5b), Vetter 1954: 71 (no. 5b), Mayr 1962: 222.
