Commentary

Not previously published. Autopsied by TIR in July 2014.

Image in Tschurtschenthaler & Wein 1998: 249, Abb. 24.

Length of the remaining inscription 3.8 cm, starting from the lower part of the handle, running upwards. It it unlikely that the handle broke along a hasta, as it would have been very close to the preceding N s, and the edge is scraggy. The letters are legible without ambiguity, apart from the first one: The angle, rounded, does not quite reach either the bottom of the line or the hasta, although the letters generally are very tidily scratched. Venetoid closed or near closed Pi may be expected in the Inn valley. Compare possibly the same name in MA-1 and MA-2 (P s) and in SR-5 (addP1 s). Compare also ST-2 with a first letter P3 s, also in a name.
