Commentary

First published in Schumacher 1992. Autopsied by TIR in November 2013.

Images in Sinnhuber 1949: Taf. XXV (43) (photo) and Schumacher 2004: Taf. 5,3 (drawing) and 6,2 (photo), MLR (photo).

The characters on this as well as on the other potsherds found at the Himmelreich were retraced with chalk for the photo in Sinnhuber 1949. Read piva by Schumacher and Mancini with upside-down A2 d, because turning the inscription by 180° turns V s into rare Z s. Compare, however, Z s in the inscriptions of Steinberg. Sanzeno-T3 s would be unusual in an inscription from the Inn valley. Also the shape of the sherd suggests that on the upright bowl the inscription was seen as shown in the drawing.
