Commentary
First published in Mayr 1954.
Picture in Mayr 1954 (photos), MLR (photo) .
Length 4.8 and 6 cm respectively. Well visible despite the damage of the object; situated on two adjoining sides. The two remaining sides are broken off and may have held similar inscriptions. Clearly non-script; see here for a discussion of possible interpretations of inscriptions with doubtful status. In line 2, the cross-shapes are symmetrically lopsided, making the arrangement reminiscent of the asterisk symbol in one of its many variants (e.g. ).
